ANALYST WEEK 9

Hii! I am Marina De Vicente and this week I am Analyst.

The task of this week was very similar to the task of  last week, the only difference is that we have changed the roles, those who were writers are now actors and backwards.

As you know, last week we worked all the class together, I should say that work together is difficult because you have to put in common many ideas or personal opinions. From my point of view is not the same work with a group of 5 or 6 people than a group of 50 like this week, since as more people more difficult to carry out the task.

This is our 9th task and at this moment for all of us work together was something typical but I think that it is not the same to work with my group, where I know how each of the members works ,than working with all my class. However I like the experience, I am very happy with the result of the task, doing the task I  have had fun and I feel better with all my classmates, sometimes in class I stay all the time with the same people and I dont be interested in met or know different students, so this task give me one of the best opportunities that is know my different clasmates.

Everyday that passes I am more aware about everything that we are learning, because we learn not only contents in a different way but also new methodologies (TPACK), new tools for our future classes ( Web 2.0 tools) and working in group, that is what we have to do in a future, because as future teacher we are not going to be alone, we are going to have the help many other future teachers, our future classmates,

TRANSLATOR WEEK 9

Hello! I'm Alicia Gomis the translator of week 9. As you know the role of the translator is to try to summarize what we have learned during the week in 5 terms. But these weeks are going to be different, we are working on complexity at the time that we spend a good time filming scenes of a news program. Therefore the vocabulary learned during this week has been different:

Theater director:
The theater director is responsible for supervise all the scenes and he/she has to be sure that everything goes as he has planned. He or she must be in charge of the actors and actresses and direct their scenes.  (In class we have some theater directors, success depends on them)

Chroma:
It is a technique which is used in order to make special effects. This week that technique has allowed my mates to add some background effects to our news channel. It is amazing, you only have to start recording in front of a green back and then edit the video.

CURATOR WEEK 9

Hey! I'm Marina García and this time, as curator, I have collected everything that we have used to complete our task.
In this activity, we haven't use so many resources, just three, since the stories have been created by us, and not obtained from the Internet. The tools used in this task are:

1.An article were complexity in relationships is explained:

Connections & Relationships Starkey, L. (2012). Teaching and learning in the digital age. London: Routledge. Chapter 4.

2. The video editor that our mates have used:

Adobe premiere pro- http://www.adobe.com/es/products/premiere.html

3. Tutorials to use cromas in a correct way:

FIVE STORIES RELATED TO FIVE TYPES OF RELATIONSHIPS AT SCHOOLS.

TEACHER-STUDENT CONNECTION

According to this part of the chapter called ‘’Teacher-Student connection’’, both of them learn from each other, being in this case the teacher the greatest influence on student achievement; what they do and how they do it, matters.
Imagine this situation: The teacher is always telling their students that they are ‘’stupid guys’’, ‘’burros’’ ‘’they don’t know how to do anything’’… This words and how they are said will affect to the students in their life and also in their school achievement due to the fact that everything a teacher says, it is important for their students. This situation occurs in many schools and is develop by many teachers and it determines a successful achievement or not in school for students.

 CONNECTION WITHIN THE LEARNING CONTEXT

As the text says, learning is influenced by the cultural context in which it occurs, and that context is nfluenced by the teacher and the students who participate actively in class and also the relationships between them.
So, this connexions can be shown in that example:
A group of students of 15 years have a very good relationship with their maths’ teacher and because of that they have the necessary motivation in the subject and the majority of them get good marks. But this learning enviroment change when this techer has to leave the school for a year. The students changed their attitude and their motivation was reduced because of the new teacher, they didn’t have the same confidence as with the previous one because he wasn’t as friendly as the other.

CONNECTION BETWEEN THE CONTENT
Let’s imagine ourselves as teachers. We are math teachers, and we are going to teach our students how to divide. This new knowledge which students are going to acquire, is only possible with a previous knowledge, which in this case would be knowing how to sum and subtract. When our students know how to sum and how to subtract, they make connections between this two concepts to finally get another one, divide.

CONNECTION BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
Students can have learning connections beyond the classroom developing learning links with the community or experts. We have developed a case in which students will collaborate to develop a response to a challenge set by an external agency. In this case, we have a scientific  challenge, students will have to create a volcano under the guidance of one or  more tutors  and a scientist . They can do that in the scientist´s place of work.
It affects day-to-day teacher situation because they have to find  innovative ways of teaching a content beyond the classroom , in this case consulting an expert.

CONNECTION WITH PEERS
According to the text: “ Connections with peers” Imagine a boy, a little boy, who doesn't get on with his friends or class mates. Especially for the teenager the friends are more important than their parents, in a classroom situation a students is more likelly to seek assistance from a neighbouring students tha the teacher or their family. This is why the relationship with his friends can damage his academic performance. This little boy was an excelent student, he was always the first in all the tasks, but because of all the problems with their classmates, he changed, he changed his mind, he changes his idea of school…

FACILITATOR WEEK 9

Hi everyone! This week I have been the facilitator not only of my group but also of the others with the rest of facilitators. It has been a difficult week due to the fact that we had to do a big big task. We had to create a twenty minutes video together, all the class. However, with the help of the other facilitators and the rest of the class we have done a great work. We knew how to coordinate the groups, we divided the people among groups and we started working really hard to get the final result that it will be shown on Monday. We are looking forward to it! We hope that everyone appreciates the results and that our teacher likes the video !

STAR WEEK 9

Hi bloggers! This week the star of the Chalkies has been me, Elena González.

Unlike other weeks, I didn't mind being the star since I didn't have to present any task or explain anything in front of the whole class, as we usually do.

This week I was part of a group leaded by my partner Isabel Ramirez de Arellano and my job was to look for a place to record a strory for the Diary of Leona, for that, I had the help of my classmate Eduardo Gálvez.
On Monday we looked for some sofas, a class with a green wall and for some backgrounds for the chroma.
On Thursday we recorded everything, we prepared the decoration. I also was part of the public of the Diary of Leona and helped also with the camera.
I really liked this task due to the fact that it has been complitelly different from the ones that we have been doing until now.

I hope we could do more tasks like this one and have the opportunity to experience what is to be an actor/actress, camera or decorator.

I hope you like our video! See you next week!

TRANSLATOR WEEK 9

Hello! I am Soledad Soriano and I am the translator of “The Chalkies” in this task.
This week we have recorded different reality shows or situations about fiction cases related to different topics. I am going to define these topics which are the different relationships or connections we can find in the complex school:

-Teacher-student connection:  Teachers  have a big influence on students achievement. It is their responsibility to be sure that their students are learning. The connection between them is an important component in the teaching and learning process. For this reason, teachers need to be able to establish and maintain an effective learning environment where students feel comfortable.

- Connection with peers:Learning can occur between the students. Due to the fact that knowledge is developed through relationships. What it is very important in our digital age. Moreover,  the social aspect between students have a big impact in their learning process. It can affect in a positive or negative way.

-Connections within the learning context : Learning is influenced by the cultural context in which it occurs, and that context is influenced by the teacher and the students who participate actively in class and also the relationships between them.

-Connections beyond the classroom: Students can have learning connections beyond the physical classroom. This learning connections can occur by Internet, by a local resource ,by an expert or specialist or by an external agency. This could be a technological, scientific, artistic or creative challenge.

-Connections within learning: This connection expose that a new knowledge which students are going to acquire, is only possible with a previous knowledge. But we also count with external factors , groupal factor. Depending on each situation a student may have, they´re gonna have a base knowledge influenced by agents such as peer or family.

JOURNALIST WEEK 9

Hello everyone! It's Alicia de Prado here, my role as journalist caught me again!

How interesting and funny are being these two weeks, don't you think? This week we have been working with the news stuff, as last week. This time, I didn't have to play such an attractive and sexy role as the country man I played las week. This time, I was behind the scenes with a camara in my hands. The rest of the Chalkies were also with new roles and new different situations.

On Monday, we were all told the roles we had to play, and our group started to do the script of each scene of the news, and left everything on point for next day. In our case, we had to do a soap opera, "Leona's diary", in which we were going to present a situation of bullyng. Each of us had a role, and we started to ensure what we were going to need for the day of recording the show.

Wednesday came! So did came the funniest moment. We were all very excited, and we were collaborating and cooperating with each other. I recorded some videos about the bullied case while part of my Chalkie's mates were helping with the scenary and helping as an extras. How difficult has been to record one scene in the first moment! We had to repeat, and repeat, and repeat... but finally we got the perfect secuence!.

It is a shame this has been the last week doing this activity. It has not only been interesting and amusing, we have learnt a lot about collaborative work and the use of technologis to get an awesome tv show.

All of us, the Chalkies, have been very motivated about this task, and we have worked and helpt in everything we have been asked for. In general, everyone of the class have loved the tasks and have given their best.

May is almost here, what we will have to do for our final task? We are looking forward to seeing what has Linda prepared for us... keep in touch with us to know!!

FACILITATOR WEEK 8

Hello bloggers! It's Marina García. This week I've been working as facilitator again, but this time was a bit different. Pay attention; this time I've been a kind of chief from a newspaper, and  I had also to direct a news programme section. Maybe you're a bit confused... but I'm sure that the journalist chalkie has explained it perfectly!

In this eighth activity, I belong to the chief's group, that was formed by the previous stars. I am so pleased to have worked with other mates who don't belong to the Chalkies' group. It's been a great experience, especially because we all have compenetrated ourselves and we have worked together as better as we could. Therefore, in my view, we've done a perfect job! I am sure you'll enjoy  and learn a lot from our video.

I will explain my current job briefly:

On Monday I chose some actors in order to do my piece of new and I gave them the script that my helpers and I created last week.
My selection was:

1. Eduardo Gálvez  as a reporter (due to his funny and easy way of connecting with people).
2. Elena Gónzalez as an interviewed (because of her excellent English).
3. Alicia de Prado as an interviewed (due to her nice interpretation, since he pretended to be a man)
4. Marina de Vicente as camara (because of her exprience with photography)

They really made a good job, congratulations guys!

I can't forget to tell you about my helper Ester, who was with me in every moment, and who helped me to decide the best recording option. Thank you Ester!

On wednesday it was time to record. Everyone brought the materials, and everything was developed as I wanted (just after a few shots).

In conclusion, I 've really enjoyed this experience of a whole group activity. Look forward to more innovations!

PS: THE NEWS PROGRAMME WILL BE AVAILABLE ON MONDAY, YOU MUST WATCH IT!

 EXTRA, EXTRA!

 COMPLEXITY OF

 SCHOOL IS HERE!

Today, we have different kind of news about complexity of school. They have been collected by our amazing researching group, "The Chalkies". School is a place which suffer from changes constantly, and where new challanges are happening everyday. All of those changes are bounded to different reasons, as you will see in the link below.

CURATOR WEEK 8

Hello! I am Soledad Soriano and I am curator this week.
We have not a lot of references because we have recorded a video about the news of complexity in school that we looked for last week.I put here the references about an article about  the topics related to school complexity. Moreover, I put a new that has been included in the  news programme of the class. Finally, the tool that we have used to edit and create the video.

STARS WEEK 8

Hii!! I am Marina de Vicente and I am the star of this week.
The task of this week have been very different so we have never done any task like this one.

The task consist in create a news about the technologies in education, the advantages and disasdvantages of use it , once we have the news we have to represent it.

Although I am the star of this week my role in this task or in the representation of the task was being the camara, it has not been easy because we have to repeat it several times but in general it would be a wonderful experience.
Doing this, now I know how hard it is to be a camara of a movie, TV programme, TV show...

Doing something different is always better because you star the task raring, we go out the class so  we leave the typical things like being in a class sitting in a chair.

I am happy with our work so I hope you have enjoy !! See you soon.

Translator week 8

Hello! I'm Alicia Gomis the translator of week 8.

Script:
The script is used as a guide for the presenters. They are papers that contain all the information that the presenters need in order to direct the news for example. So the role of the script is to organize the parts of the program and help the presenters to not to be lost when they are being recorded. All what they have to say is printed in those papers.

Chief:
This is another word that has been used a lot this week. The chiefs are the bosses, they must be in charge of a group. In this activity we were divided in different groups and there was one chief in each of them and they had to direct the actors (presenters, interviewers, reporters...). In short, they are like a kind of theater director but in small groups.

Finally, as we are working around complexity I think I had to repeat this term: Complexity theory.
According to this theory all complex systems are networks of many interdependence parts which interact between them. So everyone has different characteristics and what we have to do is to share our knowledge to the others, so in that way everyone would learn something new.
In schools (which are complex contexts), everyone (teachers, students, parents..) have their opinions and knowledge and they have to interchange this information and attitudes with the others.

ANALYST WEEK 8

Hi guys!! I am Isabel Ramírez de Arellano Sevilla and I am the analyst of this week.

Such an interesting week... It has been the first time that we have worked the entire class, together for the same goal: having a twenty minute video for next Monday. I imagine that it hasn't been easy to coordinate around sixty people, because we are a lot and everyone of us have a different opinion, belief, way of seeing things... But, besides everything we have worked successfully, we have been coordinated and we have done a great video.

You will be thinking... and what have we learnt from this different week? We have learnt to work in big groups, cooperation. We will have to work with too many people as future teachers, work hand in hand with other professionals, with other teachers, with the students, with the families; and that is not an easy thing but we are learning to do it.

We have to recognize that at the beginning of the this task, everything was a mess, too many people to coordinate and to have a roll. Even us, we didn't know how we were going to be organized because it was a new challenge. However, the challenges exist for being accepted and being done successfully.

Everyday that passes I am more aware about everything that we are learning, because we learn not only contents in a different way but also new methodologies (TPACK), new tools for our future classes ( Web 2.0 tools) and working in group, that in the end, as I have said before it will be our future job. It is in our hands to change the schools, although we know it is a difficult context because of the structures, values that are already imposed but it's not impossible. Changes are accepted if they are for a good reason and for a good purpose, the key is to find that reason and that purpose to change.

STAR WEEK 7

Such a different star.

Hi guys! It's Marina García, and this week I've got the star role. It's not my first time as the representing voice of the Chalkies, since in the second week I helped my star mate. So, obiuosly I wasn't as anxious as the previous time,

However, something make me feel a bit nervous. It was the way to present the topic, which, personally, seemed to  me quite difficult if we compare it with the previous ones (complexity contexts). For the first time in the course, Linda, the teacher, didn't explained how to present this week, so my wonderful helper, Isabel, and I were so confused. Will we do a oral presentation using powerpoint, poster, maybe performing a debate...? We hadn't got any idea, so...the only solution in order to perform it as better as we can, was to study everything perfectly.

Wednesday, the presentation day, arrived,  We still had no idea of what to do, and although concepts well clear, we contious being a bit nervous. Linda divided stars according to the chapter they were representating ( 1 or 4) and started to explain the function of this task:
In my case, chaptar one, I belonged to a group who were the management of a newspaper, and our mission was to guide and create a TV news show about the news we have just mention. So, by this time we don't have to explain anything to the whole class

We are still working on it, so...NEXT WEEK YOU'LL DISCOVER OUR NEW EXPERIENCE.

XOXO,
Marina García

TRANSLATOR WEEK 7

Hello everybody!! I am Marina De Vicente and this week I am the translator, Some of the keywords more important or interested for us in this task are:

Connections with peers: The relationship that you have with your classmates, it is something very important because depending of it you can have better or worse marks. This can damage our academic performance.

Complex organisation:  Each school leaders have their own leadership style depending on their personality, knowledge, beliefs, experiences and the school context they are leading. So each school have different organization. No all people work in the same way, for example, the way that the English department makes decisions about curriculum may differ from the science departmen

Diversity and redundancy: Dependent on the history, culture and other variables such as the preferences and experiences of teachers, values and beliefs and the resourcing available. Are likely to be unique to eachspecific context

Constructivist view: Occurs when the learner starts from their prior knowledge, which is encoded and accessible, then links new experiences to their existing understanding to construct personal understanding.

Perception: The cognitive process that gives meaning to sensory input, something that you have paied attention before.

STAR WEEK 7

Hello guys! I am Isabel Ramírez de Arellano Sevilla and I have been the second star of this week.
At the beginning we were nervous about the way we had to present this task. When Wednesday arrived we were waiting for knowing how we would have to present ''Complexity theory''. We came up with a different thing that we didn't expect it. All the stars became like facilitators of two big programs divided into: actors and writers. We are looking forward to developing this project with all our partners!

FACILITATOR WEEK 7

Hi bloggers! I'm Elena González and this week my role has been to be the facilitator.
When we arrived to class on Monday we knew that we had to organice ourselves better than the previous week, because we only met on Tuesday and we needed more time. After knowing the new activity for this week, it was my turn to divide the task among us. Once all of us knew what we had to do, it was time to work!
Fortunately, we didn't have the necessity to meet for doing the task, as we have been doing the previous weeks. So we stablished a dead line to do our part and to upload it to umubox so our stars could read and study them. However, as we didn't meet I couldn't buy them any candy o sweet to motivate them while working, but I cheered them up by Whatsapp as a good facilitator.
I think that this week the organization has been quite better and everyone of us have done a good job, I hope we continue working hard and improving each week.

ANALYST WEEK 7

Hello guys! I am Soledad Soriano and I am the analyst of this week.

I find really difficult to analize all that we have learnt this days. In this task we have dealt with the complexity of the school, that is our future reality.
First of all, I would  like to highlight that there are some connections and relatonships in teaching and learning in the school level. We have learnt that teachers and students learn from each other and teachers  are the greatest influence on students achievement. Therefore, this topic has made us to reflect about the responsibility we will have as teachers. We have to see our children as humans with mistakes and strenghts .
Secondly, we learn that there is a certain connection  between peers which affects learning. Children can make a lot of frienships but nowadays bullying  is increasing in schools with the introduction of the new  technologies. For this reason, we have discovered and thought about the important role that teachers have in order to impede this kind of situations between peers.
On the other hand, with this activity we were aware of the importance of the  context . In the T-pack we learnt that the context is really important and influence the three elements by which it was composed (pedagogy, technology and  content). We have realized that teachers can not control all because depending on the context children and teachers will adapt to innovations in different ways . Therefore, once more  we have seen the connection  between learning and context.
This is related with the term “agency”.                  Agency means that students are persons, so depending on the day ,they will face to innovations or situations in differents ways. With regard to this topic, I would say that when I started the Primary Education degree I was not aware of the complexity of being a teacher. There are a lot of factors that influence your students and a lot of connections in the school , so there are many thing to take into account…. It will be  very hard!
Apart of that, nowadays  the complexity in schools is bigger tan in the past . Probably, you are asking yourselves the reason but I will try to explain you… the introduction of technology influence the emergent knowledge. What´s more, there are  some controversies with this introduction due to the deterministic order ( the traditional way of teaching and learning) .

So, guys! We have to deal with a difficult era in which innovations are changing the last model of teaching and learning. It is not a easy task but Chalkies… come on FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS…NOBODY SAID IT WAS EASY!

How has been "SOyER" until now?

The current task is about summarizing everything we have learnt during the first part of this course of Schoool Organization and Educational Resources.

Here you can see our work: (don't forget leave a like on youtube!)

FACILITATOR WEEK 6

It's Marina García and this week I've been the facilitator of the Chalkies. It's time to lead the group!

Easter holiday are over, so we are back again... and I've returned quite strongly. I was pleased and totally prepared to assume this role.

My girls were quite relaxed because of their  holiday, therefore it was my responsabilty to trasmit them as much energy as I could in order to start working as hard as we usually do. To encourage them I  brought  them candies and milkshakes and I also sent them some funny messages to remind them how important is to work together and, of course, with positive vibes. Why positive vibes? Because the last tasks we did before Easter were a little mess. We were such as saturated, we have had a lot of works and everything was stressful. So I tried to change that negative atmosphere.

Let's talk about the current task: SUMMARIZING #SOyER1516 's contents until now in a animated video.
Every member said that this was an easy task and I agreed, so we weren't as worried as we had been in other weeks, but we needed a perfect organization in order to work properly and not have any problems.

I said that the best option would be to organised every iformation about the subject on the first day (Monday), and my mates agreed, so we started working. Each member should look for important content about previous tasks, classifying them into: pedagogical, technological o content information (according to TPACK)

Afterwards, it was time to make the video (Tuesday). I though that creating a video in a single afternoon was enough. Unfortunately, I was wrong. We were using a video maker (which is called "Moovly") that we had never used, so we were too slow, discovering every detail that this online programme has. We spent so many hours creating this video. We met at the beginning of the afternoon and we finished at night. So, it was a fault on my organization.

However, the result was great! We were happy with our work and also the rest of the student were, since on Wednesday we voted for the best video and WE WERE THE THIRD ONES! Of course, it could be much better, but, personally, I think that a third position is a nice one.

This week we got the bronze medal, but next week we will look for the gold one!

CHEER UP, CHALKIES!

JOURNALIST WEEK 6

Hi!!! I am Marina De Vicente and this week I am the Journalist I describe everything we did about this task in a comic that I have personally created. I have chosen a comic because I think that it is a good and easy way to explain everything we have done with funny pictures.
All the videos of this week have been wonderful, all the groups have done a good job, but I really liked  Tuttifrutis`s video , it was lovely! That's  why I've left a comment on their blog, as you can see here:

STAR WEEK 6

Hello bloggers!
I'm Alicia Gomis and this week I've been the star of The Chalkies.
When we arrived to class on Monday after our Easter holiday I was so afraid because I had not been star until then and I knew that it was my turn. Anxiety arrived when the teacher began to explain the task for the week, but I felt more relaxed when I heard this sentence: "the stars this week have a very brief role".
And so it was,  the task of the week as you know was to make a video using one of the tools proposed, summarizing what had we learnt so far on the subject, and the function of the star was just to present that video. On Wednesday the stars of all the groups presented the videos and then we lived a kind of Eurovision programme and I, as a star, was in charge of giving the points to the rest of the groups. We felt really entertained, it was amazing!
You can see here our video and help us to achieve a good mark giving us a like on youtube, It's so easy!!

We did a good job Chalkies! But Tuttifruties did it excellent and they won the contest, congratulations girls!!
See you next week  :-)

CURATOR WEEK 6

Hello again! I am Elena González and this week my role is curator, so I will show you in the following link all the resources and references that we have used to create our video in order to summarize the course until now.

TRANSLATOR WEEK 6

Hello guys! I'm Alicia de Prado and I have been the translator this week.
So, what have we learnt with this task? Let's see!

We had to make a review of what we had learnt in the course so far. We made a 2 minute video explaining so. I think the most important thing we've learnt was to summarize and went to the key ideas of every task. We synthesized each work in a few concepts, and that made our brains become more and more structured.

We are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.. Well done Chalkies, let's continue improving until the end of the course!

ANALYST WEEK 6

Hello everyone! I am Isabel Ramírez de Arellano Sevilla and I am the analyst of this week. Let's see how it was!

Monday faces were the ones that we had on the first day of this week. We were looking forward to knowing the task that we had to develop for Wednesday. ''Summarizing the last weeks'' was the name and what we had to do, but, how can we summarize five weeks of work, feelings, knowledge...? It was a hard task but we always get our highest level in making it.

Chalkies are always running out of time, we are like a football match. We are the loser team until last minute, we lose our patience, we want to give up... But suddenly, it is like if we knew how to survive and how to win the match, suddenly we get the key but we are running out of time. It is in that moment, when we really work as no one could work. We cooperate, we help each other, we run with the ball in our legs and we score the goal and after that, we win, we win another match in the last minute. I have said that we win the match because on Wednesday 11.30, everything is done for being presented by our amazing star. Probably, we have an special way for making things in the last minute and making it right, probably it is not the best way but sometimes it works. We work together. We just need to improve little things like winning before the match sometimes so that we don't lose our minds.

We are the best players of this game because every week that happen, we learn, we learn how to improve, how not to make the same mistakes, how not to kill us when we work. However, there is still a long long road to walk, as our video of this week said. A good teacher is always learning and this week we have learnt how not to give up never and how change things from bad to excellent.

Great job my Chalkies! I am completely proud of us!

Together we are invincible!
